Ha, the new Mario Minecraft pack is causing copyright issues on YouTube

Claims by Nintendo

Recommended Videos

As we all know, Nintendo is very protective of its intellectual property, and that extends to YouTube.

While just about any studio is willing to allow streamers and YouTubers to monetize their games, Nintendo will adamantly file copyright claims and takedown notices. Well, that’s kind of a new thing for the Minecraft streaming community, which is noticing takedowns for the Mario Mash-Up Pack that just came out. The issue, no doubt, has to be the Nintendo sound effects.

Fortunately for the community 4J Studios (who handles Minecraft ports for Mojang) has commented on the situation, stating that “Nintendo are going to investigate and resolve.” 4J says they were “assured this wouldn’t happen,” so perhaps Nintendo wasn’t quite prepared for it?
