Learn from one of the bigger Game Maker success stories
As someone who has tinkered with Game Maker a few times before, made little to no tangible progress, and called it quits only to try again moments later and then really call it quits, this new video tutorial series from Gun Point and Heat Signature designer Tom Francis is great.
It’s intended for beginners, with part one, embedded above, titled “Writing your first code.” Francis says he plans to put out “about two to four half-hour episodes each week,” and he’s hosting the source code for the project over here should you need to double check your work.
“If you want to be a programmer, this is a terrible series to watch,” he says. “This is much more about just getting something up and running as quickly and easily as possible … Not doing anything the kind of good, hard way, but doing everything the easy, cheap, hacky way, which will come back to haunt you later if you’re making a big product or working on a team.”
Gotta start somewhere.
