Guitar Hero III world champion has broken over 80 guitars

And we’re not talking about the bashing over the head to show off kind of guitar busting either. This guy, Danny Johnson, is classy. He’s a real musician who plays piano, guitar, drums, saxophone and oboe IRL, says The New York Times. But even with his respect for the musical instruments, he still manages to blow through dozens of guitars on his climb to the top.

Where is the top, you ask? It was at a Best Buy store in Manhattan, where this 14-year-old achieved a score of 973,954 on the DragonForce tune “Through the Fire and Flames” in Guitar Hero III. He broke the world record, coming close to hitting all 3,722 notes perfectly, but missed just short of perfect because the blue button broke under his fierce finger power.

And the 80 Guitar Hero guitars he’s gone through? That was in just nine months’ time.
