A new update for Guild Wars 2 dubbed “Flame and Frost: Prelude” will roll out on January 28, adding a variety of features and setting up what ArenaNet has called a “multi-stage narrative” planned for the MMO this year.

Going down the list of additions, there’s an updated achievement system; laurels that can be earned by completing daily and monthly achievements and redeemed for Ascended gear and Infusions; a new guesting system for playing on other worlds in your region; and a Temple of the Silent Storm map for free and paid tournaments.

ArenaNet also teases improved World versus World performance, side-kicking balancing, and user-interface improvements that will be detailed in the patch’s release notes later this month.
