Guide: Here are all the cheats in Final Fantasy IX for PS4

Great ways to cut out that grind

As you probably already know, after a surprise announcement at the Tokyo Game Show, Final Fantasy IX is now out on PlayStation 4

You may have also noticed that this release of Final Fantasy IX comes with some built-in cheats. They’re pretty upfront about it. Most of them are accessible from the pause menu, but just in case you missed them we’ll go over how to access them and what they do.

The first set of cheats is accessible from the pause menu and won’t deactivate trophies. You’ll see the four cheats at the bottom right of the pause screen and you can simply press the corresponding button to toggle them on and off.

The cheats accessible from the pause screen are as follows:

Battle Assistance:

Battle Assistance can be activated by pressing L1 from the pause screen. It simply makes battle incredibly easy. It makes the ATB gauge of all of your party members fill instantly. It also keeps your health and magic points filled, as well as letting you enter trance mode at will.

9999:

This one is pretty self-explanatory. You can activate it by pressing L2 on the pause screen and all the characters in your party will deal 9999 damage and all healing magic and items will restore 9999 health points.

High Speed Mode:

This next one has become something of a standard in re-releases of old RPGs. By pressing R1 in the pause screen you’ll be able to play the game in fast forward, speeding up everything from dialogue to gameplay.

Safe Travel:

The final pause screen cheat can be toggled from the pause screen with R2 and will disable all random battles.

Next up are the cheats only accessible from the config menu. Just hit triangle to open up the main menu, scroll down to config and select it. Under a ‘booster’ subheading at the bottom of the screen, you’ll find three cheats.

It’s important to note that unlike the cheats on the pause screen, these cannot be disabled once activated. If you save after turning them on they will be permanently on that save file. They will also disable trophies.

Master Abilities:

Selecting Master Abilities from the config menu will allow your party members to instantly learn and master the abilities of any equipment in your inventory. You’ll also learn the abilities of any equipment you pick up while the cheat is active.

Lv/Mag Stone Max:

Simply select Lv/Mag Stone Max from the config menu to instantly level all party members to 99 and set your magic stone inventory to 99.

Gil Max:

Another obvious one, selecting this from the config menu will line your pockets with the maximum amount of Gil.

Well, that’s all of the cheats available for Final Fantasy IX on the PlayStation 4. While boosting your speed and maybe getting a little help past a boss fight are all great ideas, at a certain point, you’re not even playing the game as designed. Who am I to judge though? Go enjoy this amazing game as you see fit!
