Grand Theft Auto 6’s website was updated earlier today, but there wasn’t a new trailer as some had hoped for.
Instead, we got a bit of a sneak peek into what to expect from the title (sort of) from its ESRB tag, now added to Rockstar Games’ footer at the bottom of the web page. Can you believe it’s rated M for Mature?!
The listing is exactly the same as Grand Theft Auto 5’s, down to the same exact wording:

The full rating summary, where ESRB lists all sorts of spoilery details about how it came to the conclusion of what it rated the game, is still yet to be added to the ESRB website. That’s sure to come before launch. But for now, we can expect a whole lot more of the same when it comes to GTA 6 that we got in GTA 5.
“Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Mature Humor, Nudity, Strong Language, Strong Sexual Content, Use of Drugs and Alcohol,” the rating says. Yep, that sure sounds like a GTA game. None of this is at all surprising, but I’m sure many will be happy to see the franchise sticking to its guns when it comes to its themes.
But you know what? I hope they lean even more heavily into the satire, crude humor, and ridiculousness GTA is known for than anyone is expecting, especially with how gaming companies are afraid of offending people. Screw it. The world is a clown show circus as it is. If you’re going to lampoon Miami (and Earth) as we know it, ratchet up the craziness more than ever. The game can’t get any more ridiculous than America currently is, right? Right?!
Car chases, firearms, strip clubs, over-the-top and outlandish characters, rampant crime at all levels of society, sex galore, foul and offensive language…no, not GTA 6. I’m talking about real life. Now let’s get even weirder.

GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on Nov. 19, and I hope to report some really stupid stuff in it as soon as I can play it.
Update on Oct. 2, 12:55pm CT: Europe’s PEGI listing has revealed a slew of more specific details about GTA 6, but it has since been taken down. The new info revealed includes the below:
- Violence is bloody with a high degree of realism, with certain weapons being able to cause greater damage such as detailed decapitation and dismemberment.
- Drug use is frequent and prominent with the player being able to partake in drug use with others and to use illegal drugs directly from their inventory. Most notably, cocaine can be carried around by the player and snorted directly from their hand at any time.
- There are also strong sexual themes, including nudity, scenes of intercourse and occasional scenes of sexual fetishes. In various night clubs the player can also pay for private dances, during which, the game allows the player to move their hands onto the dancers’ breasts and buttocks.
- Domestic animals are present in the environment, these can be harmed by the player, however this does not produce the same injury detail that can be generated towards human characters.
- The game features frequent strong bad language such as the word ‘fuck’ and occasional use of the word ‘cunt’. Discriminatory language can be heard in the TV hows and on the radio channels.
