Green Day won’t be Harmonix’s only game this year

To some surprise, late last year Harmonix and MTV showed some of its 2010 hand by revealing Green Day: Rock Band. But did you think that was all they had up their sleeves?

In an interview with Newsarama, MTV Games Senior Vice President Paul DeGooyer says “It’s of course not going to be our only game this year.” Shocking, I know — Harmonix and MTV Games have something else up their sleeves for the remainder of 2010. A full-fledged Rock Band update? Perhaps something with a “3” in its title?

On the subject of Green Day: Rock Band, DeGooyer confirms that the game will support vocal harmonies, a feature added to the series in last year’s The Beatles: Rock Band. A “couple of little things” will also be added in terms of new features, but DeGooyer doesn’t go into any detail. Considering Green Day is a three-piece band, with one of the members simultaneously singing and playing guitar on most its tracks, perhaps that’s a hint. Or perhaps not.

Green Day: Rock Band is scheduled for a vague 2010 release; the tracks will be exportable from the game disc.
