The Lens of Truth — the all-seeing, illusion-breaking, magical item from Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask — has lips. Why. This creepy little adornment is impossible to unsee. You’ve seen the truth and now you forever carry that burden.
This revelation is resurfacing thanks to the recent Nintendo leak that exposed a ton of never-before-seen high-resolution assets from SNES through N64-era games. A ResetEra user dutifully reminded us that the Lens of Truth has lips. Photos of the render on the Zelda wiki confirm that the lips were there in a lower-res upload back in 2012.
Eight years. I’ve been walking around for eight years, just living and not knowing this unsettling truth. Sometimes ignorance really is bliss.
