Gran Turismo Sport will lack dynamic weather or time cycles to preserve frame rate

I’m ok with this

Gran Turismo is a series that aims for the stars, but it looks like Sony is being a bit more realistic this time. Speaking to GT Planet, producer Kazunori Yamauchi confirmed that conditions for the upcoming Sport would be solidified before a race is ran, and that no parameters (like night and day cycles or weather) would be altered.

Yamauchi elaborates, stating, “We opted to not have the transitions in the race this time in order to raise the frame rate and the quality of the image *during* the race. So the user will be able to set that before they enter the race. So you’ll still be able to have night races, morning, races at dawn, dusk, and so on.”

I feel like Forza 6 did a pretty amazing job at not sacrificing quality to keep in some amazing details, but if Gran Turismo Sport can actually stick to a high consistent baseline I’ll be happy to kick ancillary things like weather shifts to the curb.
