Gran Turismo 5 wreck is hilarious, flippy

Recommended Videos

Gran Turismo 5 has the physics down when it comes to driving, where it really matters. Turns, braking and even collisions react realistically, and that’s what keeps me coming back to this game every day. It’s when things get slightly off the track that my beloved 10 out of 10 misses the mark. I was messing around the other day, driving off the shoulder, and hit a stick. A freaking stick. My car bounced back like I hit another car. That’s nothing compared to the fliptastic action in this video, though.

This YouTube video by drkcharizard has been making the rounds for about a day now. It’s a wreck that starts out looking fine, just like it’s supposed to. But notice when the car hits the grass. The heavy car now seems to be as light as a cardboard box. It just tumbles in the wind. Hilarious. The video shows it again in slow motion; the physics break down as soon as it hits the first point off the track. And the damage? Nada.

You can do two things with this video. You can watch it and laugh, and then go back to your business, like I did. I’m sure the guy that made this video did the same. Or you can put your troll boots on and wade into the thick of it, calling out Polyphony Digital for doing ‘nothing’ these past six years. For me, no video or troll rant is going to change how much fun I’ve had with this game the past week or so. I can’t wait until I’m done with work so I can play more. Maybe I’ll try to make my own car flipping video.
