Gorgeous PixelJunk SideScroller screenshots from gamescom

[Update: The original screenshots we ran were, in fact, old. Someone let the Ghoulies run wild in the Sony Computer Entertainment Europe offices again. Q-Games sent over the latest batch of images, so check ’em out.]

Having completed Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet this past weekend, I’ve had PixelJunk SideScroller on my mind for a few days now. Both games immediately pull you in with their overwhelming visuals — to the point where you could probably take a still image from either one, at any time, and have a lovely wallpaper on your hands.

To me, that’s a sure sign of tremendous art design. In the case of SideScroller, Q-Games takes it a step further by bending the corners of the screen to make it look as if we’re playing on an old television set. These screenshots show that plus other related effects, and the end result is wonderful.

Still no release date for this yet, unfortunately.
