Google+ Games is soon to be a thing

The tech-savvy among you have no doubt engaged in a “Google+ versus Facebook” debate already (G+ wins, by the way), but the fight looks set to get a bit more real — Google+ is getting its own gaming stream, allowing it to challenge Facebook’s one and only lasting advantage.

Google+ Games was discovered on Google’s help page, where reference was made to a previously unannounced “Games stream.” After digging around in G+’s source code, more references to the game section were found, including an official logo.

Google has been eyeing games for quite some time, recruiting developers and offering apps like Canabalt via Chrome. Don’t worry about games ruining your G+ feeds, though — it’s been said that Google+ Games will keep notifications separate from regular updates, so your stream won’t be wrecked by Mafia Wars bullshit.

There have been some legitimately interesting games on Facebook, so I’m intrigued by Google’s take. Provided it doesn’t turn G+ into the spam-fest that ruined Facebook, I’m definitely down.
