Sci-fi exploration is becoming popular again. We have the talked-about No Man’s Sky as the current king, but other games like The Outer Worlds are also on the horizon, or already here. Journey to the Savage Planet definitely counts, as it takes place on an uncharted planet as the player character attempts to make first contact.

The whole shtick is very much like the self-depreciating tone of The Orville or the upcoming Star Trek TV show Lower Decks, where the “4th Best Interstellar Exploration Company” is the star. It looks deliciously goofy as hell and will sport co-op as well as some fairly enticing and varied environments. The phrases “upbeat,” and “colorful” when describing its world really sold me on at least putting it on my radar.

Journey to the Savage Planet is slated for release on January 31, 2020 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. On PC, it will actually be an Epic Games Store exclusive.
