Classic arcade action on the go

The great thing about modern hardware is how something that fits in your pocket can now run games that once required 120lbs worth of circuits and plastic to run 25 years ago. Where you’d once crowd around a CRT screen, embedded in a giant wooden cabinet, you can now whip out your console and play as you picnic in the park, or grab some sun at the beach. It’s all quite amazing, really.

Don’t believe me? Then find out for yourself and win a Switch key for this classic Action-RPG Gate of Doom!

Johnny Turbo’s Arcade is back at it with another classic arcade re-release. This time, Gate of Doom sees a new lease at life for Nintendo Switch, and now on PlayStation 4. This Action-RPG sees you battling ancient creatures and avoiding traps as you hack, zap, and slice your way through labyrinthine levels. Battle as the Knight, Wizard, Ninja, or Bard (one of these things is not like the others…) as you rid the world of evil in sweet ’90s style.

We’ve got five Switch NA keys to give out. To get yours, tell us in the comments which warrior you’d bring into battle to make the Bard feel a little bit better about his place on the team. I’d bring the cowardly Mime, who’s ability to weep openly at the slightest hint of danger would serve to make the Bard feel like the mightiest warrior to ever serve the realm.

Our winners will be drawn on Monday, September 3, so get your entries in! Keys are for North American eShop accounts only. Make sure you comment from a Dtoid account with your current email address on file. If I can’t email you a key, you’ll be hanging out with the Bard for the rest of the adventure.

Johnny Turbo’s Arcade: Gate of Doom is available now for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4.
