A lot of Sonic the Hedgehog fans were are very pleased with the Sonic Mania animated shorts that have been hitting the internet in the last year or so. This week, the official Sonic twitter dropped another jaunty adventure, but this time with a twist.

The new short, titled Snow Sculpting, is made entirely in classic papercraft form. Just like the early days of South Park before it went all computerised, the characters, scenery and effects were designed as paper-cut shapes and then shot frame-by-frame. The cute story sees Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles and new bois Mighty and Ray enter a snow sculpting competition.

It’s charming, wholesome fun, though the short weirdly asks the community who “won” the competition, when it’s clearly Amy and Knuckles, hands down. Sonic Mania Plus is available now on PS4, PC, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
