Hexic HD has a peculiar past: It was originally only available on Xbox 360 hard drives closer to launch and was only released for download on Xbox Live years later. If your hard drive died and you didn’t have a backup – as mine did at one point – and you bought a new drive without the game preloaded, you were out of luck for sometime there. Boy, those were dark days.

I’m happy to report that Hexic HD can be played on Xbox One as part of the added backwards compatibility that is currently available to Xbox Preview Program members on the latest dashboard, even if they never owned an Xbox 360.

Simply go to this link on Xbox.com and sign in, pick download, and then go to my apps and games list on Xbox One, scroll all the way right to find the game listed under ready to install. Press A, choose install and you’re good to go! Protip: Make a flower shape, you’ll thank me later.

You can also buy digital copies of the games on the Xbox One backwards compatibility list from Xbox.com this same way to install them, though most of them will be overpriced considering every Banjo-Kazooie game is still $15 each and the soon to be released Rare Replay includes them and 27 other games for $30.
