Browt, Pombon, and Gecqua are the starter Pokémon of Pokémon Winds and Waves, the 10th generation games coming in 2027. The trio was revealed at the end of the Pokémon Presents that broadcast this Friday, Feb. 27, to celebrate the 30 years of the franchise.
Browt is a Grass-type, Pombon is a Fire-type, and Gecqua is a Water-type. Right now, these were the only new Pokémon confirmed to be featured in the next mainline game.
Browt’s bird-like design makes it look like its Stage 2 evolution could also be a Flying-type, though Decidueye has a similar design but Ghost as its secondary type. Pombon and Gecqua don’t give me any specific vibes, though I wouldn’t be surprised to see Pombon’s final evolution as a secondary Normal or Fairy type, the same typing of other dog Pokémon.
Browt is called “the Bean Chick Pokémon.” Pombon, which is probably a combination of “pomeranian” and “bonfire,” is “a guileless and friendly Puppy Pokémon.” Gecqua, likely “gecko” and “acqua,” is simply “the Water Gecko Pokémon.”

It’s easy to trash new Pokémon design, so I’m sorry, you won’t see me doing this. I think, however, that Gecqua’s design is a bit too close to Drizzile’s, Sobble’s evolution. And I can’t help but see Pombon as a baby Zamazenta. Still, I’m excited about their evolutions, though such a reveal could me months away since Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves will come out sometime in 2027 only.
