Gender bending new Rune Factory coming to PS3 and Wii

Rune Factory Oceans will be the next entry in this “fantasy Harvest Moon” spin off series. Looks like Frontier may be the last Wii exclusive Rune Factory, as this new game is coming to the PS3 as well, with Move support. Maybe that will help to get people playing this highly underrated series.

In a world where Farmville and other resource management time wasters have millions of fans, I’m surprised that this series isn’t more popular. Maybe Rune Factory is too action-oriented, too romantic, or is just weird for the mainstream? I don’t know, but Oceans is definitely going to freak some people out.  It’s about a man and woman who are forced to inhabit the same body. I’m not 100% on this (due to my crappy Japanese), but I think they actually get to take turns between having a man’s and a woman’s parts. The woman gets uncomfortable when the guy is in control of the body, and he flirts with girls, and vice versa.

That’s perfect for the series, as at its core, Rune Factory is about combining girly and manly things into one seamless package. Plus, Steve Martin and Lilly Tomlin rocked that concept in All of Me, so I don’t see why it couldn’t work in a game. That’s not all. The game also lets you command a giant rock monster who stomps across the sea and punch giant lizards. All that, and violent farming too? Sign me the f*ck up!
