Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 briefly caught our attention and then promptly vanished without a trace. Last we heard from Gearbox Software on the matter, the game had “evolved,” according to CEO Randy Pitchford. Indeed it has: Furious 4 has undergone a name change and will be re-revealed as a new intellectual property, reports Kotaku.
This is no longer a Brothers in Arms game. Apparently, the project will combine two genres similar to Borderlands‘ lovely mix of first-person shooting and role-playing, although Pitchford didn’t give specifics.
It’s sounding like we’ll hear more about the revamped title during the company’s community day on September 15, 2012. Allowing this game to have a fresh start without all of the baggage that comes with an established, followed series like Brothers in Arms seems like the right move. Make this thing totally nuts!
