Given how hard it is to launch a new IP, it’s really no surprise that most people seem to have completely overlooked Game Republic’s Folklore, even though it was a very strong addition to the PlayStation 3’s early library. Undaunted, Game Republic announced a new game during Namco Bandai’s Gamescom press conference: Majiin: The Fallen Republic.

Majin is an action/adventure game about a young thief who finds a forgotten kingdom. The trailer embedded after the break hints at combat and stealth, but the real kicker is the protagonist’s sidekick: a golem-esque creature who looks like he’s rather late for the Wild Rumpus. The trailer doesn’t reveal much, except that the “creature of legend” enjoys kicking ass and making leaves turn pink. That’s literally the only information available right now: such is the nature of announcements.

Because of its temple setting and boy-and-his-giant-monster gameplay, Majin is going to have a hard time escaping comparisons to Team ICO’s The Last Guardian (you can check out an early trailer for that game here and see for yourself), but I doubt that Game Republic had time to whip up an entire design and trailer in the two months since E3.

In any case, Majin: The Fallen Realm is being developed for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
