I am fairly certain I have used “Born To Be Alive” as a Games of the Week video before, but I literally do not care. The Hernandez, with his unique blend of French disco and fondling of canes is worth posting multiple times, and I swear to GOD that this shan’t be the last time I post his glorious videos. Just be thankful I did not choose to post “Disco Queen.”

Speaking of Disco Queens, we played videogames this week. Check out what ones after the jump for crying out loud!

Rice: For the most part, my week has been filled with Cross Edge, which is flawed but still enjoyable, and finishing up Retro Game Challenge in my free time. I’ll likely be done with that by the time I make it to Anime Expo this week.

Villasenor: After watching the Super Robot Wars Original Generation anime, I felt the urge to replay the similarly-named Game Boy Advance title. So I did. I’m only about 25 percent through so far.

I also remembered that it had been some time since I had last touched Chrono Trigger, so on Friday morning I played through it in one sitting.

Concelmo: What started as a Wii-exclusive week (c/o Final Fantasy IV: The After Years, the superb Klonoa remake, and the addictive Boom Blox: Bash Party) turned into a week of general awesomeness once I started playing — and almost completed in one sitting — Sam & Max Save the World for Xbox Live Arcade. I have always loved Sam & Max, and this Season 1 compilation is no exception. The game is incredible, with some of the most clever and intuitive puzzles I have ever expereinced in an adventure game. What a great week of gaming! 🙂

Burch: Season Two makes Season One look like shit.

Sterling: Dynasty Warriors 6: Empires took up the bulk of the week, but I found time to play Kirby Super Star Ultra and Hotel Dusk: Room 215. That is, when the morons at GameStop finally packed the games in the box. When we first went in, they handed us two empty cases and we took them home, only to discover later that nothing was in them. Anyway, they’re fun games.

This weekend has been spent almost entirely in service of the Overlord, with Overlord II. It is a good game, if a little disjointed and, so far, Rhianna Pratchett’s writing is not especially funny. Still, we’ll see how it develops, as I’m in the early goings.

Chester: I decided to map my face to a character in Fight Night Round 4. It decided to use it to make a human being, no doubt, but it’s certainly not me. So instead, I’ve been using a mongoloid of my own creation to build my own boxing legacy. It’s been working out okay so far, but I look forward to the day when every sports game season doesn’t involve looking at a boring calendar and checking boring emails to advance my career.

Concelmo: Oooooh, now I am really excited about playing Season 2! 🙂

Razak: I’m about to pop in The Conduit for the first time, but the rest of the week has been taken up by Flower, Sun and Rain (or whatever order they’re supposed to be in). It started off slow, but like most of Suda’s games there is a lot to be found in it. Looking forward to getting to the end and still understanding nothing.

Grim: As much as I genuinely liked screwing around in Prototype, the story missions were lacking the fun factor to the point where I didn’t even want to play anymore. On the bright side, early on in the week I tried out both Illusion of Gaia and Earthbound for the first time ever and they have been nothing but awesome and impressive since.

Bennett: I haven’t gamed too much this week, but what little time I did I spent on Flower, Sun and Rain. It seems pretty intriguing, and I’m looking forward to digging deeper into that one.

Ross: I’ve been getting back into TF2 after not playing it for a couple weeks. That’s actually about all I’ve played, other than the Cities XL beta briefly.

Orcist: Since I’m on vacation, I’m doing mostly DS gaming. I meant to play Hotel Dusk and Phantom Hourglass and Final Fantasy III and IV, but it’s mostly been Puzzle Quest. It’s weird: even though I recognize what a repetitive and flawed game it is, it drags me back in every time. I go without playing it for months, but it’s so easy just pick it right back up.

Holmes: Can’t find Flower, Sun and Rain anywhere. Is it sold in stores, or do I have to go all futuristic and use the internet to buy it?

Been very bust with videogames this week. Got SCUMM VM running on my Wii, which lead to reliving Monkey Island 1 and 2, and the discovery of graphically enhanced version of Zak McKracken which ran on a Japanese PC called the FM-Towns. The graphics are amazing, but it has no music. Still, it’s very existance has filled me with delight.

Also broke down and bought Knights in the Nightmare and  Devil Survivor based on rave reviews, played them for about 15 minutes each, and then realized it was going to take hours that I didn’t have in order to even sort of understand how to play them. Then I popped in Super Robot Taisen OG Saga instead, and loved it; fun and funny from the first second on, with great sprite-based animation. It’s actually exactly what I was hoping Cross Edge would be like.

Also-also got The Conduit/Street Fighter 4 deal at Toys R Us this past Wed. Thanks to the sale, SF4 only cost $24, but it steal feels like a bit of rip off. It’s not gteat, but it should hold me over unil BlazBlue comes out in… two days. As for The Coduit, it’s more fun than I thought it would be, and easily the most fun non-Metroid FPS I’ve played on the Wii. Full review should be up real soon.

Oh, and played some four player Let’s TAP yesterday. I was incredible, so much more fun than single player or even two player.
