Games of the week for 05/16/10: Transformers edition

Those who know me will know that my non-videogame obsessions tend to fluctuate wildly between Aliens and Transformers, and the obsession is usually kicked into high gear when a videogame is on the horizon. With War for Cybertron looming close, I’ll now be infatuated with physically dishonest robots. Until, of course, Colonial Marines comes out, then it’s all Aliens stuff again.

Anyway, it’s time for games of the week, so hit the jump to find out what we’ve all been playing. That’s kind of the point of the whole thing!

Razak: I started Red Steel 2. It’s way fun and I’m digging the sword fights. Not sure yet if they’ll entertain all the way through, but I’m hoping so.

PerLee: SMG2.

Holmes: Played more Tomena Sanner and Canabalt to prepare for the auto-run platforming giant with is Bit.Trip Runner, which releases tomorrow. Also found out about a bunch of secret stuff I didn’t know about in Cave Story, like the Alien Metal and the harder to get intro screens, so I got sucked into playing that all over again for the sixth time. It was really fun.

Also downloaded a bunch of WarioWare games from the WarioWare D.I.Y. Showcase contest page, a lot of them are really good, particularly the shmups. Then I played some KoF XII just to look at how pretty it is. Then I played some other stuff, but I can’t remember what.

Ross: Didn’t do a ton of gaming this week, other than 3D Dot Heroes and a replay through Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow. Just started The Witcher a couple hours ago too, really digging it so far.

Sarkar: I had finals for the first half of this past week, and I didn’t really do much gaming for the rest of it — except maybe some more BFBC2.

Sterling: Since my copy of Mario Galaxy 2 is running late, I’ve had to make do with Alpha Protocol. I can’t really say too much about AP, which is a shame, because there’s a LOT to talk about. Dementium II is being played also, and a review is coming. It’s pretty decent though! Also, still going through my replay of Borderlands. Not been impressed with the DLC at all, unfortunately, but the main game is still great to play a second time.
