Team ICO’s long-awaited PS3 exclusive not vaporware yet

Fumito Ueda has assured Team ICO fans that The Last Guardian is still in development under his creative guidance. While the game’s been in development for roughly ten thousand years, there is not yet cause for alarm with this PS3 exclusive.

“As some of you may have heard, I left Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Studio some time ago to pursue my creative passions,” he wrote on his site. “Nevertheless, I continue working on The Last Guardian as a freelance contributor. While it’s been a long time coming, The Last Guardian remains under my creative supervision and is still in development by an incredibly talented team.”

The developer said we’d need to keep our eyes on Sony for any official details on the project. He added that he intended to continue working on The Last Guardianas well as pursue new creative projects with a fresh perspective.”

Will we catch a sniff of this project at Sony’s big February 20th thing-of-things? Time will tell. It’d be nice to have some new screenshots, at any rate. Sick of using the same five header images for these “Last Guardian totally not dead yet” stories.
