If you’ve been looking for good reason to pull the trigger on an iPad or are simply itching for more FTL, surprise! No, I didn’t buy you the game or an iPad for the port. Good news, though! Developer Subset Games has just announced via Twitter that both FTL: Advanced Edition and the iPad port of the original game will be available come April 3rd.

The Advanced Edition will be provided to those who own the original game for free, even if you purchase it today after reading this — and you just might want to. Free to all buyers, now and forever! The expansion nets you new subsystems, Hard Mode, and aesthetic upgrades as well. It’s a good bit of content for a free upgrade, adding a little oomph to your humble little FTL game.

If you prefer your game a little more mobile and without tactile buttons, you can pick up FTL on any iPad 2 or newer for $9.99, which also includes the Advanced Edition content. The kicker? No in-app purchases! Get it, get it.

Looking to get into FTL: Faster Than Light but needing that last final push? This should be a good incentive for you.
