Frictional says ‘sorry for the silence’ with a SOMA screenshot

The PS4 / PC beta should be here before long

I’m with Steven — the ocean, pretty as it is, can also be petrifying. What just brushed against me?

The studio behind Penumbra and Amnesia: The Dark Descent is plunging into the depths with SOMA, its next horror title, and this is gonna be real bad, you guys. I mean good. But also bad. The sci-fi title is set on a remote underwater research facility in which machines have begun “taking on human traits and alien constructions have started to interfere with routine.”

That’s not new info — just a refresher, as it’s been a while since we or Frictional have talked about SOMA — but it’s still coming to PlayStation 4 and PC this year. The team says it’s “closing in on Beta and everyone’s working hard to get there. Once that’s done, we’ll reveal more!”

For now, a new screenshot. Would have been amazing if the image was actually a gif in disguise with subtle, creepy-as-hell movement. Not too late to pull that stunt. I’d forget and fall for it.
