Look, we’re all still a little peeved that Nintendo has neglected to make a 2D Metroid game in more than 10 years. However, while Nintendo has consistently jilted its Samus fans, we have been spoiled for choice in terms of off-brand entities in the genre. Perhaps we can soon add A Mini Falafel Adventure to the list.

A Mini Falafel Adventure is one of those classic indie stories: developed largely by a single person over several years, featuring a quirky cast of characters, and available free of charge for anybody who wants to play it. Go ahead and download it here if you fancy Game Boy-styled four-color visuals and the classic run/jump/backtrack gameplay loop.
