Free Dark Souls II patch to bring content parity with PS4, Xbox One versions

Also improved load times (PS3 only)

Dark Souls II is coming to PS4 and Xbox One on April 7 as Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin. The re-release, which collects all three DLC packs and makes other improvements, is also coming to PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, but only PC, PS4, and Xbox One will see visual improvements.

If you already own Dark Souls II (PC, PS3, 360) and its DLC. there’s a free patch coming (detailed in full here) that will make your game equivalent, except in prettiness, to the Scholar of the First Sin version. It includes the addition of a new character, the titular Scholar of the First Sin. In Soulsian fashion, little else is known.

Oh, and the patch cuts load times on PS3. Sweet. The free update will be available on February 5, bringing the new story elements, additional item description text, and more two months before the repackaged release.
