Franchise: Naughty Dog wants Uncharted to be one

If current plans hold, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves won’t be the last we’ll hear of digital adventurer Nathan Drake. Speaking to PlayStation.blog during PAX, Naughty Dog creative director Amy Hennig confirmed that the follow-up to Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune doesn’t conclude Drake’s story and there’s room for other titles in the “franchise” if people want more.

“It doesn’t conclude the story at all,” said Hennig. “The expectation with Uncharted 2 is that it can be an ongoing franchise as long as people want more of it. All these stories are self-contained.”

“You don’t have to play the last one to play this one. Obviously, you’re going to get a little bit more out of it if you have. But [Drake]’s going to have a lot of adventures, thank god.”

Good news to hear! Now we can convert our Uncharted 3: Nathan Drake versus the Space Dragons fan fiction into a proper videogame pitch. We get so giddy when sequels are almost confirmed.
