[Forums, we have them, is a monthly series where we look at all the going-ons in the Destructoid Forums.]

Welcome back to the stage of history. Hamza is terribly silly.

Here is the February edition of Forums, we have them. We did quite a bit of housework this month and I would like to share with you all what we did. It’s been a year since we put up the Forums we have currently and it’s been pretty good to us so far. It says something about the software when you see a lot of high profile sites using it for their forums as well. Did you also know that the 25th of January was Community Manager day? If you want to get in some late appreciation for our awesome community manager Hamza Aziz, you can do so here [Editor’s note. Give Will some love too! — CTZ].

Let’s get on with the recap of what’s gone down eh?

So the first big news is that Zodiac Eclipse has been promoted to a moderator (or MoMerator if you like) to the Forums.

She’s been a huge help to myself and Mxy and is levelheaded and fair. She’s already been doing a fantastic job catching spammers and other miscreants. Yes, that screenshot was intentional.

In addition to that, after a long hiatus Mr Internet Famous Mxyzptlk is back!

The Forums have returned to their full power once again! Just don’t make him say or type his name backwards otherwise he will vanish again for 3 months.

A couple of other big updates is a complete rearrangement of the Forum layout. I’ve added some new sections and sub-forums to make it easier for everyone to find and post in the appropriate place as well as cleaning up some of the clutter.

One of the new sections is called All About Destructoid. The purpose of this forum is to have a one stop shop for conversations about the site, the staff and the community as a whole. I encourage the editors to check that section out and don’t be afraid to start some threads. Right now it’s mostly appreciation threads, but there is no reason we can’t get some good conversation and feedback going that may be of use to the editors.

A couple of other new sections I’ve added is a forum for The Journalism Show and condensed the Hey Ash, Once Upon a Pixel and HAWPcast forums into a kind of mini-forum called The HAWP multiverse. That’s not all the changes I made though, so I encourage you to go over and check it out.

I also added four new badges as well to the collection, so let’s go over those.

Two of the badges I added are “upgrades” from a couple we already have. One for getting five or more front paged C blogs and another for getting ten or more threads of the day. I just got done making a massive spreadsheet to keep track of the threads of the day. So, those are all up to date. Those of you that got a thread of the day badge out of the blue in the last few days, that’s why.

I also added a NARP host badge, (for hosting a NARP obviously) and a Tech Supporter badge for those fine members of the Forums that help out their fellow users with their tech problems.

As usual you can find the list here and now you have a thread to request badges that you have earned but not gotten yet. You can find the request thread here.

Another new thing I wanted to point out is our Community Podcasts forum. I’ve noticed a few new community podcasts have popped up in the C blogs and I wanted to let those that organize them know that you can post your thread for your podcast in that forum. It’s a good way to get a little additional exposure to your podcast.

I also want to give a shout out to our Friday Night Fight guys, specifically the ones that post threads every week in the FNF section. Did you know that we have a movie night over Netflix on the 360 every week? If you are looking for something other then games you should check that out and MST3k it up with your fellow Dtoiders!

I think that’s about it for this month. Check back next month for another recap of the Forum madness. Hopefully you won’t need it because you would have been there to see it!

This victory strengthened the soul of Technophile.
