Fortnite surpasses 8.3 million concurrent players

That’s one mighty battle royale

It’s hardly surprising, but still worth reporting. Epic Games’ battle royale phenomenon Fortnite has proudly announced that it has passed a milestone for 8.3 million concurrent players.

The new figure was hit following the Free-to-Play free-for-all finally seeing release in South Korea, which has brought a ton of new barricade builders to the cause. Fortnite has amassed some five million players since February of this year, where the standing total was around 3.4 million riding the battle bus.

Just to clarify, that’s concurrent players, not just registered accounts. Mind-blowing. What with the constant content updates, uber-popular streamers such as Ninja, and various references in pop culture and celebrity twitter feeds, it looks like this license will be printing money for a long, long time to come.

Fortnite is available now on PS4, PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android devices.
