Epic Games had a planned maintenance in place for the Fortnite servers on April 15, during which you weren’t able to log in to the game for some time.

Fortnite maintenance: Why did the servers go down on April 15?
The Fortnite servers went down on April 15 at 6 a.m. ET due to a hotfix for the v34.30 update.
The devs confirmed that matchmaking will be disabled 30 minutes before the start of the downtime, and the entire maintenance will last for an hour. The servers will be up and running by 7 a.m. ET.
For people residing in other time zones, here’s when the maintenance started:
- West Coast US: 3 a.m. PDT
- Central US: 5 a.m. CT
- UK: 11 a.m. BST
- India: 3:30 p.m. IST
- Japan: 7 p.m. JST
- Australia: 8 p.m. AEST
While the planned maintenance is for an hour, it can always be extended due to sudden issues or unforeseen circumstances. In case that happens, we will make sure to update you here.
The last time the servers went down for longer was on March 29, 2025, due to servers not functioning as intended, and they had to postpone the OCE Div Cup Final as well.
How do you check the live Fortnite server status?
To check the live status of Fortnite servers, you can simply head to Epic Games’ official status website, where all the live status of EG servers are listed. Scroll down a bit, and you can find Fortnite as well.
If it says “Operational” under Login, Matchmaking, Login, and the rest, the game is well up and running. If not, then you will need to wait until the servers come back online.
When is the next big Fortnite update?
The next big Fortnite update is on April 15, and it brings several new changes to the Reload mode. We will be getting a new Chapter 2-inspired map, unlimited Slurp, and more to this game mode once the servers go online.
