Epic Games has announced that they are doing away with mystery loot boxes in Fortnite’s Save the World mode, replacing them with transparent goodie packs, allowing players to see what’s inside their Llamas before considering their purchase.

The standard “V-Buck Llamas” are being replaced with the new “X-Ray Llamas” in Update 7.30. These new loot boxes will tell you up-front what’s inside them, and will be refreshed in-store daily. Of course the regular Fortnite Battle Royale mode (that originally wasn’t the “regular” mode) will be keeping the standard mystery Llamas.

Alongside the update, all Save the World players will get five free Llama Upgrade tokens. Is this change a step toward eradicating what many see as the biggest menace in gaming today. Maybe not, there’s still too much dollar at stake, but it’s a start… maybe?.. perhaps?..

Fortnite is available now on PS4, PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and iOS and Android devices.
