33-year-old Jason Montes, a former games journalist with over a decade of involvement in the industry, has been found dead, apparently through suicide, and is heavily suspected of murdering his wife.

Montes allegedly called his friend before he was discovered, confessing that he had shot his wife, 25-year-old Serena Montes, and planned to shoot himself. The gun belonged to Jason’s father.

Montes’ career started in the mid-nineties with him joining Ultra Game Players, published by Imagine Media. He moved on from there to work for IGN, Official PlayStation Magazine and even worked in marketing for Hudsonsoft before becoming a web designer and animator.

Although married to Serena in 2007, Jason and Serena had separated last year. Jason recently filed for bankruptcy protection.
