Forging Iron daily challenge quest guide Destiny 2

Iron Banner returns

Recommended Videos

Forging Iron is the seasonal quest for Iron Banner in Destiny 2. Progressing through the Forging Iron quest will give Guardians access to the full inventory held by the activity’s vendor, Lord Saladin. Completing the Forging Iron quest is an important step towards farming the Iron Banner weapon rolls that players seek out as they’re only available in the game for a limited time. There are some current bugs and issues to look out for, but completing the Forging Iron quest is relatively straightforward.

How to complete the Forging Iron quest

To complete the quest’s first step simply complete an Iron Banner match by launching it from the node in the Crucible menu. Secondly, complete the daily challenges for Iron Banner. You can find these by hovering over the node in the Crucible menu to see the challenges and their progress. It doesn’t specify daily challenges, but the text is misleading. Complete the number of matches listed to complete the daily challenge. The weekly label refers to meeting all four daily challenges. These challenges are to complete 3, 5, 7, and 12 matches. For the Season of Defiance, you must use Strand, Void, or Solar subclasses in these matches.

What to do if the Forging Iron quest disappears

Some users might encounter an error where the quest disappears from all characters. Bungie says it has shipped a patch to address this problem. If you have played Iron Banner and unlocked Saladin’s inventory from Season of the Risen onwards, there’s nothing to panic about here. If you haven’t unlocked the inventory, check the quest archive terminal next to the Postmaster in the Tower to pick up the quest again. This should fix the bug.

Sometimes the quest will get stuck at the step which instructs players to wear Iron Banner armor and complete matches. To fix this issue simply unequip all of your Iron Banner gear and play one match before reequipping it. To progress the quest faster you will get more Iron Banner reputation when wearing a full set of Iron Banner armor. This includes other armor pieces that are using Iron Banner ornaments.

How to rank up in Iron Banner quickly

Each match you complete will award Iron Banner rank points, and the third step in the quest is to earn 300 Iron Banner rank points. These increase with wins and with more Iron Banner gear equipped. It will also progress faster with an Iron Banner emblem. 300 points equate to around five matches if you lose each one, so winning isn’t vital here. Of course, winning will progress the quest faster, so it does help. Following this, the fourth step is to collect an Iron Banner Engram from Lord Saladin. Return to the Tower and claim the Engram, you can then use that and 100 Legendary Shards to focus a weapon or armor piece from the Iron Banner inventory.

The fifth step, and the one that occasionally gets stuck as detailed above, is to complete Iron Banner matches with Iron Banner gear equipped. This is a progress bar that needs filling to 100% so just equip as many Iron Banner items as possible and get stuck into completing matches. The more pieces you have equipped, the faster the progress bar will fill up.

The final step to complete the Forging Iron quest is to return to the Tower and speak to Lord Saladin. At this point, most of the weapons and armor should be available to focus engrams and you can unlock his full repertoire by playing more matches and gaining the most reputation.
