First video of next-gen Alone in the Dark isn’t very scary, but looks good

We’ve seen the screenshots and we’ve read the info. But as far as I know, this is the first time we’re seeing Atari’s upcoming Alone in the Dark in action.

The video is taken from a German gaming magazine, Computer Bild Spiele. That is the reason, of course, why you might not be able to understand the narrator. No, we don’t have any idea what he’s saying, but I’ve asked Jim Sterling to get Uwe Boll on the phone to do a quick translation, so we’ll get back to you on that one.

Visually, the game looks impressive, but the gameplay we’re seeing is certainly not what we’d expect from the Alone in the Dark series. For one thing, it’s not very dark, there are quite a few unexpected explosions, and there’s a whole bunch of platforming going on. Seems like an odd area to demo as a first look.

We should be seeing more at E3, so hang tight.
