The most exciting thing about Star Wars the Old Republic is the fact that LucasArts and BioWare are both actively working on the project. The video above is the first documentary for the game. The developers spend a great deal of time talking about story elements, choice and the process of making a wicked rad MMO. The most revealing portion of this documentary isn’t the audio – it is the pre-production footage of the game in action.
You can really get a sense of the choreographed fighting mechanic that BioWare was talking about when the game was first announced. With lightsaber combat, it seems to focus around wild flourishes and fancy Jedi footwork. The speed of combat is actually fairly surprising. The dueling scenes seem hectic, but also very characteristic of George Lucas’ vision of Star Wars combat.
