First screenshots for 5th Cell’s shooter Hybrid

Scribblenauts maker 5th Cell is departing from the DS to create Hybrid, an Xbox LIVE Arcade-bound third-person shooter. A full reveal for the game will be happening next month at GDC 2011, but for the time being, we have some warm-up information.

In a post-apocalyptic world, there are two rival factions: the infected Variants, and the immune Paladins. As per the tradition of modern shooters, you’ll be busy unlocking upgrades. The twist is that all online interactions take place on a “single, unified world server.”

This means players will be capturing and defending territories as part of the out-of-shooting-dudes experience. I’m intrigued, especially because of who’s developing. Look for a hands-on report at GDC.
