Final Fantasy XIV is once again celebrating Valentine’s Day with a very Square Enix name for the festivities

::squints:: Valention…es?

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is sort of going through a lull period before the next major patch (expected in mid-to-late February), but there’s plenty of events to wade through. The newest one is Valentione’s Day.

Your job is to vote on which emissary of the event deserves your love (all three are in the gallery below): Astrid, Rodrigault and Bert. Strangely, all of them are perfect analogs for the Three Houses crew, right down to the very Edelgard looking and red-themed Astrid.

It actually has two time-specific events baked in. You can vote on your favorite valentine (sorry, valentione) from now through February 9 at 6:59AM PT, but the actual results are shown from February 9 at 7:00AM PT through February 17 at 6:59AM PT. As usual, you can earn event items, including costumes for your favorite and a seasonal chocolate fountain.

Wait, there’s actually a point to the name Valentione! Not only does the name signify an organization called “House Valentione” in-game, the event actually started ages ago in the original version of Final Fantasy XIV (which we rarely speak of for obvious reasons), before it was incorporated into Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn proper (that’s more like it) in 2018.

From then on it’s become an annual tradition, like other oddly named holiday events.
