Hmmm
Recently, a group provided a fan translation for Final Fantasy Type-0 — a game that had previously had no hope of getting localized, until Square Enix announced a PS4 and Xbox One port this year at E3.
Now, we are learning that the project is seemingly shut down, as project lead Sky Blade Cloud has posted the following message on their blog:
“Unfortunately I’m forced to remove my posts and pages related to the popular Final Fantasy Type-0 fan translation project. That’s right, certain game company thinks that threats and false accusations are the way to treat its biggest fans. For the time being I can’t answer questions related to this matter, but I’ll write a more comprehensive post about all this once I get the chance.”
These fan endorsement situations are incredibly depressing. Some people spend months or years advertising and working on a project, putting their heart and soul into it, only to be shut down litigiously mere days after they actually release it. It’s understandable for corporations to want to protect their interests on their IP, but getting shut down after so much work was put into it must really sting.
