Final Fantasy III iPhone will be a DS port, but better

Recommended Videos

We guessed right. The upcoming iPhone version of Final Fantasy III will be a reworking of the DS game. That means polygons over sprites, and those polygons are coming right from the 2006 DS release.

Here’s the kicker, though: The iPhone version could look better than the DS version. Square Enix is reworking the visuals for high resolution, says Famitsu. According to Andriasang, one of the testers says that the sound is also of a very high quality. That’s good news as FF3 DS had an amazing score. The monster viewing gallery has also been reworked. The game is played with a virtual d-pad, and you’re given the option to tap to attack/select.

I hope we’ll see some screenshots soon. The release is still set for March in Japan.
