Final Fantasy composer interviewed, talks Black Mages III and beer

If famed game music composer Nobuo Uematsu and I ever got the chance to hang out, I think we’d get along rather well. We both love music and beer, and sometimes that’s all you need to build a relationship. If we did meet, I’m sure we’d hit up a bar for pints of Guinness and chat about his mostly Square Enix-manned game music rock band, the Black Mages.

It seems that Music 4 Games thinks along the same lines. They recently posted an interview with Uematsu, where they discussed the release of the band’s newest album, Black Mages III: Darkness and Starlight. They cover the album’s overall theme, the recording process, and even Black Mages live performances.

When asked about how his departure from Square Enix could affect his band, Uematsu replied, “I’m continuing working with them the same as before.  I still go for a drink with the staff of Square Enix.”

And speaking of drinks, don’t miss the the part of the interview where Uematsu likens each Black Mages release to his favorite beverage.

Check out the full interview at Music 4 Games, and be sure to also read their album review.
