Final Fantasy chiptune demake albums coming to US/EU

Recommended Videos

Maybe you saw our review of the XI Chips album — FINAL FANTASY XI Chiptune –– in our Note Worthy feature earlier this month. We loved the 8-bit demakes of our favorite tracks from Final Fantasy XI, but were a little annoyed that the album wasn’t more widely available. We were even more bummed when we learned Square Enix was planning VII Chips, VIII, Chips, IX Chips, and X Chips to celebrate the franchise’s 25th anniversary taking place this year.

Well, be envious no longer, as we’ve received word directly from Square Enix that all five (VIIXI) Chips albums will be available shortly in the North American and European Square Enix e-Stores as well. Speaking from experience on the XI Chips album, I can say this is great news, and I’m looking forward to getting my hands on the remaining items in the collection.

I was thinking, could this be extended to the SNES titles in the franchise as well? Perhaps they skipped them thinking 16-bit game music was retro enough, but I’d sure buy it! Will you be picking any of these up when they hit an e-Store near you?
