Fight naval battles with your thumbs in Aqua for XBLA

Even if you haven’t heard of Games Distillery’s upcoming twin-stick shooter for Xbox LIVE Arcade, Aqua — Naval Warfare, that’s okay. Today marks the uncaging of the game’s first real trailer, meaning you haven’t exactly missed a whole lot.

Expected to launch sometime this summer, Aqua isn’t like the twenty or so other dual-joystick shooters out there on XBLA in that it doesn’t take place in space. Sweet! It’s also got a narrative to occupy the gaps between blowing up enemy ships and blowing up even more enemy ships.

It’s hard to say if this is indicative of the game or not, but I found it kind of silly how a bunch of seemingly unrelated conversations were slapped onto the trailer. As long as Aqua holds up on the mechanics front, which looks promising, we won’t need to worry too much.
