The first task to complete in FC 27 The Grounds is to choose an Archetype for your created player, and there are 11 different options. First, you have to zero down on the position of your athlete. Then, you have to pick the Archetype that will give you a build template and applicable playstyles.

Not every Archetype works well in the meta, and I will differentiate between them on this guide.

Complete FC 27 The Grounds Archetypes tier list

I have used three different tiers to separate all 11 Archetypes.

  • S-tier Archetypes suit well with the current meta and work well for both beginners and veterans alike.
  • A-tier Archetypes require practice in the given role to do well.
  • B-tier Archetypes aren’t considered meta, and you’ll need to have a high skill ceiling to excel with them.

S-tier

ArchetypeReason
RecyclerThis is the premium choice for all defensive midfielders as you can use the Intercept playstyle to win the ball and set up counterattacks.
MaestroThe best choice for universal central midfielders that can play multiple roles for their team. You can also operate with this playstyle in the CAM position.
FinisherThis is the best Archetype for attackers since the Low Driven playstyle is extremely meta in the current version.
BossWhether you’re a CB/WB, adding Bruiser allows you to effortless remove an attacker using your shoulder tackles.

CreatorIf you want to go for a pure creative playmaker build, this one will be the perfect fit. You can use the Incisive Pass to split open the opposition defense.
MarauderIf you would like to become an offensive wing back, having pace with Quick Step can be a good start. However, you’ll likely struggle in a defensive role.
MagicianIf you aim to be one of those silky players as an attacker, going for the Magician is a good choice. This is more suitable for those who wants to operate in the wider positions.

B-tier

DisruptorHaving jockey as your first signature playstyle feels better if you’re a defender, and it’s not my favorite for a midfielder.
ProgressorLong Ball on a defender doesn’t have much use if you go with the meta.
SparkWasting your first playstyle slot on Trickster feels slightly redundant since there are many other ways to dribble past your opponents.
TargetThis is only suitable for certain body types, and you’ll be extremely slow and reliant on your buddies to send those perfect balls in the air.
