Let’s quickly go through all the key changes and highlights of this patch.

Complete FC 27 Launch Update pitch notes

The core idea behind Ultimate Team is based on three principles.

  • More choice in building your club, with power in your hands. There will be an added emphasis on tradeable rewards and coins, allowing you to dip more into the market.
  • Every player will have more preservation so that you can use it for a longer time. With fewer campaigns and special cards, obtaining a unique item will feel better than last year.
  • With better rewards, every match will feel more meaningful. You’ll get more coins and SP after finishing a match.

More control over your club

Unlike last year, you’ll have more power over building your club.

  • More tradeable rewards and coins.
  • Champions Tokens to continue, allowing you more autonomy over Weekend League rewards.
  • The community will decide the TOTW players at the end of every week with their votes.
  • More focused approach on store content. While you can always spend to get an advantage, the number of options will be lower than last year.
  • Packs will be more valuable with changes to rarities and discard values. At worst, you’ll still get more coins to benefit your Ultimate Team grind.

Meaningful player items that remain viable for a longer time

In FC 27, there will be different ways to earn cards outside of packs. You can always dip into SBCs for special cards, or create your own strong combinations using Evolutions. However, EA Sports will look to ensure that our progression feels more meaningful, and every card has a lasting impact.

  • Cards to stay in our squads for a longer time irrespective of their source.
  • More meaningful distribution of playstyles, with a maximum of three playstyle+.
  • All promo players will have Role++ for their base positions.

Campaign squads will also have better distribution in the number of cards and stats. For example, the Destined of Glory promo (releases on Sept. 25) will have 15 items (compared to 20 last year) with a min. overall of 85 (compared to 83 last year).

Combined with more flexible evolutions, you should be able to use your favorite cards for longer periods.

Every game will help you progress

Post Match rewards will receive a major upgrade. Compared to last year’s 500 to 600 FUT Coins after a match, the amount will be upgraded several times across all key modes. The exact amount remains unknown for now.

You’ll also get between 15 and 100 SP per eligible match (depending on the result and the mode), and this can accumulate up to 850 SP daily. In simple words, you will no longer need to wait for the latter weeks to unlock those juicy seasonal rewards.

Game modes will also have a clearer role so that you know what you want to play. The Live Events, with offline variants this year, will offer a larger variety.

With new modes and The Grounds, there will be no shortage of content this year. You can read it all in the full pitch notes.
