Farlands looks like the spiritual successor to Pokemon Snap I’ve always wanted

With updates daily

If you’ve played Pokémon Snap, chances are you loved it and wouldn’t mind a sequel. Since Nintendo is too busy making games about security-camera-controlling frogs with mustaches, Oculus went ahead and made what seems like a spiritual successor called Farlands that surprise launched for free alongside the Rift.

From what I’ve gathered from reading posts on the lovely Oculus subreddit, the game pretty much plays like Pokémon Snap. You’re tasked with researching the wildlife by using food to lure creatures out and take pictures, as well as documenting their evolution. Your photographs are rated at the end of each outing. There are daily updates to the game, but details on those so far are scarce since it just launched.

I’ve watched this trailer more than I’d like to admit while typing this up. I can’t get over how cute everything looks, and how those chicken-like creatures do a sexy pose while the other looks on in disgust. Suffice to say Farlands is already installed on my PC while I wait for my Rift to arrive in the very near future. I can’t wait.
