After Metroid: Other M, I’m pretty desperate for a traditional Metroid game. Minitroid still tops my most wanted list in that department, but sadly, we haven’t heard anything about that game in a while.

Looks like Metroid: Confrontation will have to hold me over in the meantime. Like the Metroid Prime series, the game takes place between Metroid 1 and 2. There’s a free demo on the game’s official site, and from what I can tell, it’s a pretty loyal to the gameplay engine of Metroid: Zero Mission. I’m a little bummed to see some inappropriately flashy effects in what’s an otherwise very GBA-looking game, but other than that, I have no complaints.

But you don’t have take my word for it. Check out the demo yourself and tell me what you think.

Just like in a Gameboy game... a nice tight little world... and all its inhabitants... made out of little building blocks... Why can't these little pixels be the building blocks for love..?
