Brandish: The Dark Revenant is finally coming to PSP in North America next Tuesday, January 13, publisher XSEED Games announced today. It will be compatible with Vita and retail for $20.

Players take on the role of swordsman Ares Toraernos as he climbs his way through over 40 sprawling floors of monsters, traps and puzzles in an attempt to escape a long-forgotten underground labyrinth.

The role-playing game, developed by Ys and The Legend of Heroes studio Nihon Falcom, first came to North America in 1995 for SNES. A PSP remake was released in Japan in 2009, which has taken nearly five years to reach western shores.

Improvements in this version include “smoother gameplay, revamped boss battles, enhanced graphics, newly arranged music,” and a new post-game mode wherein players take control of Dela Delon, Ares’ sorceress arch-rival, to venture through ten extra challenging levels.
