Fable II Pub Games cheaters are going to get screwed.

You know that old chestnut about how game glitches are actually “features” in disguise? It seems that sometimes they actually are.

Yesterday, IGN posted their impressions of the first three hours of Fable II. Tucked away near the end, they talk about transferring your hard-earned cash from Pub Games. The well-known glitch in the Fortune’s Tower portion of the XBLA game has netted many people considerable sums of money and Albion will no doubt have many wealthy characters running about on day of launch.

Or maybe not. As it turns out, according to IGN, Molyneux has stated that the exploit where you could maximize your bet without actually coughing up the dough was intentional and those who took advantage of it are “in for a surprise.” Something tells me that it isn’t the sort of surprise that culminates in a pastry-covered stripper.

This was something I anticipated and I’m not alone. It’s exactly the sort of stunt I would expect Molyneux to pull. The whole thing was just too easy to do and far too obvious to have simply been overlooked by QA. It’s a suspicion that probably would have grown amongst gamers when a patch failed to arrive within a week, had it not been for all of the quality distractions on XBLA this summer and the fact that, as a game, Pub Games was pretty dull.

So, what do you think Molyneux has in store for the cheaters? My money is on some sort of negative title that makes NPCs unwilling to trust you.
