Monolith’s original F.E.A.R. featured great AI that forced you into monumental bullet-trading fests. It made you think about your position in the environment. Sadly, I always felt disconnected with the places I visited (and the desks I hid behind). I never got a sense of where I was, what I was doing, or how the world around me was affected by the events in the game. The narrative and story were too convoluted to follow.

That may change with F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin. The above video documentary is called “The Evolution of FEAR” and it reveals a bit of that story, as well as shows a tremendous amount of blood and quick cuts to the delightful little munchkin, Alma.

Principal game designer Craig Hubbard promises that Alma is “unleashed.” In preparation for play, I’ve ordered several pairs of pants from Wal-Mart’s Internet Web site. I’ve heard that fecal matter doesn’t really wash out that well, so I figured I would purchase on the cheap.
